But, Geoff said I needed to...It's too funny not to share.
So, I'm getting dressed this morning for church & I'm putting on pantyhose. Kirkland asked me what they were, so I told him that mommy wears hose to church. He turns his head to the side, ponders for a moment, and asks, "So you don't go tee-tee?".
Uh...not exactly.

Football boy?
For the last few mornings, Kirkland has been telling us the "football boy" woke him up. We have no idea who this could be. At night, when we are putting him down, he asks, "Did the football boy go back in the yard?" Geoff asked him what the "football boy's" name was, and he didn't know. He just knows he wears a hat; and that he climbs in his window when he is tired of playing outside.
I don't believe in "ghosts", but I would love to know who he thinks he is seeing.

I wonder where he learned gender rules
Me: Can you do a flip?
Kirkland: No.
Me: Why not?
Kirkland: Girls do flips
Me: Well, what do boys do?
Kirkland: Boys play games.
Me: Oh...
Kirkland: No.

You can just call us Mary & Joseph...
Sorry this has taken me so long to post, I know Christmas was a month ago, but here are the promised pictures of our acting debut...
This is us walking in front of 1000 people to get to the stable... And yes, I think Joseph did wear Reefs.

Please note how we are on the huge screens above the choir as well. Charlie slept though all 3 dress rehearsals, and Geoff & I were convinced of how he was going to be the perfect baby Jesus. However, when it came time for showtime...he decided he didn't like his mommy wearing that scarf, and kept pulling it over my face. By the end of it...I couldn't see. And, about 2 seconds after getting on stage, he decides to start fussing. Not really crying, but kind of whining & squirming. All we could think of were those words to "Away in a Manger"..."The little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes..."
Already defending his brother...
At church on Sunday, an adult, in an attempt to be funny, asked Kirkland, "Is your brother's name Charlie Brown?"
Kirkland looked at her like she was crazy, and said, "No, Charlie is white!".
I swear I have not taught my child about race...he just knows his colors.

I don't understand why men talk to women...
So, a man comes up to me today at the bank, looks at my stomach, pauses, ( I knew we were in trouble right then) and says..."What's that? I didn't know you were pregnant again"
Don't worry-the shirt I wore today is in the trash, and I'm quitting my job!

My child doesn't sleep
Kirkland has kind of been creeping us out lately at night. He gets up in the middle of the night & silently walks to our room, and doesn't make a peep until he is right there by my pillow, and sometimes, he just touches my face or my arm without ever saying a word. Here are just some of our favorites:
1. "The rocking chair is looking at me." (Seriously, we have to turn it around at bedtime so it doesn't "look" at him)
2. "They're watching" (We don't dare ask "who?" We are scared to know!)
3. "I hear sounds"
Sometimes, he just comes up with stuff so that we will get up & walk him back to his bed.
1. Kirkland: "I hurt"
Me: "Where?"
Kirkland: "In my feelings"
Me (suspicious that this is a scam): "Where are your feelings?"
He has to think about it, then he points to his stomach. Hmmm... Go back to bed.
2. "I'm yawning....Make me stop yawning" (Are you kidding? It's 2 a.m. He does not understand that the best cure for yawning is to just go back to sleep)
3. "I need medicine" (Don't bother asking, "for what?", he doesn't know. It's just quicker to go & get a medicine dropper, fill it with juice & give him his "medicine")
My favorite is from last night at 3:30, he is screaming this from his bed.
4. "Hey! HEY!!!! I've got boogers" Great...go back to sleep.

You can't leave the table until you finish your dinner...
Major misunderstanding
O.k., so like 2 weeks after Charlie was born, the Music Director at our church asked Geoff & I if we were interested in the Christmas musical. We explained that we loved the show every year, however, we can't carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it! He says, "Well, we'd like for Charlie to be Baby Jesus". So, we say that's great! Sure, he'll be there.
A few weeks ago, we see him in the hallway at church & he asks if we're ready for the musical. We think nothing of it. After all, sure, we're ready...all we have to do is be ready to hand you Charlie.
I missed church this Sunday because Kirkland was sick. But, when Geoff saw the music director, he asked Geoff & I to be at church on Wednesday night at 7 for a costume fitting. Geoff laughs in his face, and says "Costume fitting? Why on earth would I need a costume? "
What the music director failed to mention any of those times, was that actually, all 3 of us will be in the musical. Aparently, Geoff & I are going to be Mary & Joseph. Um, I can't act. And actually, being in front of large groups of people makes me sick. So, it may be the first time in Christmas musical history that Mary throws up on Joseph.... Can't wait!

Thanksgiving!
Every year, we take a picture at Thanksgiving, and every year, someone is looking away from the camera, or not smiling, or has thier eyes closed, etc. This year is no exception. Poor Kirkland had strep throat & an ear infection, so he wasn't even thinking about smiling for the family photo. And Charlie, I guess I can't really expect him to look at the camera & smile just yet. I don't know how I'm going to get a Christmas card photo this year...
Hicks
I let Hicks inside after she had been running around in the rain. Naturally, she smelled like a wet dog. I said, "Whew..Hicks, you stink". Kirkland looks at me very seriously & says, "You really need to change her diaper"!

"He's touching me"
Embarassing...
We're at the Thanksgiving preschool luncheon at our church, eating at a table with a bunch of other nice couples with their well-behaved kids. Geoff pats Kirkland on the back to get him to bow his head for the blessing, and Kirkland yells out, "Don't hit me Daddy...That hurts me!". It was like the record stopped & everyone quit talking so that they could turn & see which Dad was beating their son during the prayer at church! Nice...

I can't believe I'm doing this...
I swore I'd never have a blog, but here I go. Kirkland & Charlie are both growing so fast. I don't want to forget all of the funny things that they do & say. Plus, it's a great way to keep everyone updated since I'm terrible about returning phone calls or emailing pictures!
