You can't leave the table until you finish your dinner...

What does a mom do in a situation like this? I totally didn't plan on him falling asleep at the table.

Major misunderstanding

O.k., so like 2 weeks after Charlie was born, the Music Director at our church asked Geoff & I if we were interested in the Christmas musical. We explained that we loved the show every year, however, we can't carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it! He says, "Well, we'd like for Charlie to be Baby Jesus". So, we say that's great! Sure, he'll be there.

A few weeks ago, we see him in the hallway at church & he asks if we're ready for the musical. We think nothing of it. After all, sure, we're ready...all we have to do is be ready to hand you Charlie.

I missed church this Sunday because Kirkland was sick. But, when Geoff saw the music director, he asked Geoff & I to be at church on Wednesday night at 7 for a costume fitting. Geoff laughs in his face, and says "Costume fitting? Why on earth would I need a costume? "

What the music director failed to mention any of those times, was that actually, all 3 of us will be in the musical. Aparently, Geoff & I are going to be Mary & Joseph. Um, I can't act. And actually, being in front of large groups of people makes me sick. So, it may be the first time in Christmas musical history that Mary throws up on Joseph.... Can't wait!

"It's time to wake up Cha-lee"

Kirkland's favorite thing to do every morning (and really anytime Charlie is sleeping) is to wake up his brother. He climbs up on this crib, and says (at the top of his lungs), "Good Morning Charl-lay". He doesn't really call him Charlie. It's either "Char-lay" or "Cha-lee"

Thanksgiving!

Every year, we take a picture at Thanksgiving, and every year, someone is looking away from the camera, or not smiling, or has thier eyes closed, etc. This year is no exception. Poor Kirkland had strep throat & an ear infection, so he wasn't even thinking about smiling for the family photo. And Charlie, I guess I can't really expect him to look at the camera & smile just yet. I don't know how I'm going to get a Christmas card photo this year...

Hicks

I let Hicks inside after she had been running around in the rain. Naturally, she smelled like a wet dog. I said, "Whew..Hicks, you stink". Kirkland looks at me very seriously & says, "You really need to change her diaper"!

"He's touching me"

I was trying to get a cute picture of the boys, but Kirkland kept laughing because Charlie was touching him. Will I ever get a picture of both of them looking at the camera, smiling...at the same time?

Embarassing...

We're at the Thanksgiving preschool luncheon at our church, eating at a table with a bunch of other nice couples with their well-behaved kids. Geoff pats Kirkland on the back to get him to bow his head for the blessing, and Kirkland yells out, "Don't hit me Daddy...That hurts me!". It was like the record stopped & everyone quit talking so that they could turn & see which Dad was beating their son during the prayer at church! Nice...

I can't believe I'm doing this...

I swore I'd never have a blog, but here I go. Kirkland & Charlie are both growing so fast. I don't want to forget all of the funny things that they do & say. Plus, it's a great way to keep everyone updated since I'm terrible about returning phone calls or emailing pictures!
